Welcome to the website of Sugarloaf Mountain Polocrosse Club. We are a polocrosse club based in Western Maryland, close to Sugarloaf Mountain, although our members come from all across the state!

Practices have finally started for the 2010 season! We are holding them at the Potomac Pony Club Field, 19301 Bucklodge Road, Boyds, MD, at 3pm on Sundays and 5pm on Wednesdays. Please RSVP by contacting us if you would like to join the fun.

Congratulations to all the players who headed up to Bucks County for their tournament this weekend. Our D-Grade team with Sara Kenney and Karla Wright won the D-Grade for the second tournament in a row and Nick Balogh, Emma Bellet and Adam Fay came second in a tough B-Grade!

Several players from Sugarloaf are heading to Australia during the mid-season break on the East Coast. Peter Balogh and Evan V. are on tour with the APA Youth Development Team. You can read more about Peter's trip here. Liz Cook is heading over to train with Jane Cooper, the world cup team coach and Catherine Hannigan is also heading to Australia this summer to play mounted games!

Sugarloaf had a very successful Blue Crab Classic last weekend. Congratulations to all who attended! Liz Cook won the A-Grade and snagged the best horse award, Evan V. was on the winning team in the B-Grade, and Sara Kenney and Karla Wright won the D-Grade with Kimma Mintz of Bucks County. Nick Balogh was lent to Bucks County and finished Second in B-Grade and Paige V. and Audra C. finished second in the C-Grade. Great job to everyone and we hope everyone can recover from the heat-stroke before next weekend!

Practices will be starting THIS WEEK!! Our first practice will be Monday, April, 5th at 3pm. Practices later in the week will be at 5pm on Wednesday, April, 7th and then at 3pm on Sunday, April, 11th. After that practices will be at 3pm every Sunday and 5pm every Wednesday, although they are subject to change and weather conditions so please contact us so we know you're coming!

Practices will be starting soon on Sundays at the Potomac Pony Club Field in Boyds, Md. Keep an eye on the email list for the exact date. If you're not on the mailing list then you use the contact page to send us an email asking when and where we're going to start. Don't forget to check the box and join our mailing list while you're there. Don't forget that you need to fill out both the membership form and the release if you want to join in the fun!

Sugarloaf Mountain Polocrosse Club announced that they will be hosting the Pony Club Polocrosse Rally for the Maryland and Capital regions at the Potomac Pony Club field on April 25th 2010. More information will be coming soon but mark the date on your calendars!

Forms for the 2010 season are now available online for you to print out and mail in. Please print and sign both the 2010 membership form and the medical release, then send them to the address listed on the form. We're looking forward to an exciting 2010, but in order to join us you have to send in the membership form and release! The membership form is available here and the release is here

Youth development teams for the 2010 season were announced today and SMPC Members Peter Balogh, Emma Bellett, Audra Campbell, Evan Vallee and Paige Vallee all made the cut! Congratulations to those players and we wish them the best as they take the next step to compete for a spot on the tour to Australia next summer! Those selected will travel under coach David Brooks to the land down under and compete against some of the top junior players in the world. They are the second round of SMPC junior players to make the tour; Nick Balogh and Shannon Molsky both toured Australia over the summer of 2008.

Thank you to everyone who came to our play day over the weekend, everyone had a lot of fun and it was a fitting end to a fun and successful season. It was also the first event hosted by SMPC! The play was fantastic, the weather treated us really well and the Blue Ribbon Cafe surprised us with a HOT LUNCH! Its amazing how we can eat well, even in a field in the middle of November, Thank you ladies! Stand-by for some pictures.
